DETROIT — Ford Motor sees opportunity to grow Mustang sales as it becomes the last American muscle car with a traditional V8 engine, playing to generations of gearheads who've been drawn to the performance vehicles. The optimism comes after Mustang's closest American competitors ended production of their muscle cars in December. Jeff Marentic, general manager of Ford Blue products, which includes the Mustang, said the pony car remains good business for the automaker both domestically and internationally. "For people who are looking for a true American sports car, it's available to them. … We're looking and talking about the future of Mustang, and how far we can grow it."

With China intensifying its rhetoric on its claim over Taiwan, global observers are billing this Taiwan election as highly pivotal for security in the Asia-Pacific at a time of testy U.S.-China relations. If Lai and Hsiao win the Jan. 13 vote for the Taiwan presidential office, it would mark the first time any political party has stayed in office for more than two consecutive terms since Taiwan introduced direct presidential elections in 1996. The talks were brokered by the billionaire founder of major Apple supplier Foxconn (2317.TW), Terry Gou, who is running as an independent candidate. In one of the most dramatic moments, the KMT's presidential candidate, Hou Yu-ih, read a private text message from TPP candidate Ko Wen-je in which Ko said Gou needed to "find a reason" to drop out of the presidential race. Hou and Ko will on Friday morning go to the election commission to register their separate presidential runs, ahead of a 0930GMT registration deadline. Gou, who has trailed far behind in the polls, has not said whether he will also register. By contrast, a united DPP has been charging ahead in its election campaign, registering its presidential and vice presidential candidates on Tuesday.

HONG KONG, June 6 (Reuters) - BlackRock Inc's (BLK.N) head of China business, Tony Tang, is leaving the asset manager, the company said on Tuesday, after having played a key role in expanding operations in the world's second-largest economy. Susan Chan, BlackRock's deputy head of Asia Pacific and head of Greater China, is now directly overseeing its China onshore business, the company said. "China represents a significant opportunity for BlackRock to contribute to the financial futures of a new generation of investors," the company said. Tang, a former Chinese securities regulatory official, started as BlackRock's China business head in 2019, and has been one of the top aides to CEO Larry Fink. During Tang's tenure as China head, BlackRock established a wholly-owned China fund management unit and a joint venture with China Construction Bank and Temasek offering wealth management services to Chinese investors.

I could take a ride in what will soon be America’s last gasoline-powered muscle car with the woman who’s in charge of getting it into production and onto the street. Courtesy FordTransou and others at Ford will tell you there is an electric Mustang, the Mustang Mach-E SUV. As we took off, there was a burst of speed and throaty V8 engine noise as we blasted down Manhattan’s 10th Avenue. First, it’s the only actual car Ford currently sells in the United States. About 40% of V8 Mustang buyers get a manual transmission, she said, going for that truly classic driving experience.
Range is estimated at 200 miles, less than most new EVs on the market. Osy de Zegwaart said the car's battery capacity was limited by the Mustang's size. Plus, customers probably won't travel all that far in the '67 anyway, he said. The '67 by Charge Cars. Charge Cars
That's because despite the EV transition, Mustang is sticking with gas-powered engines for the seventh-generation vehicle in 2024. "People are leaving the segment, like Dodge, so we have a chance to really present something new about Mustang," Farley said following the 2024 Mustang debut. Farley and Ford Chair Bill Ford declined to say whether the seventh-generation Mustang is expected to be the last gas-powered version of the car. The Mach-E, which shares little to nothing with the gas-powered Mustang other than a name, has led Ford to become the second bestselling brand of EVs in the country.
